With the massive rate at which the local and international music
industries are flooded these days with old and newly discovered talents,
you might think you have seen or heard more than enough; but you had
better not rush into that namby-pamby judgment because you are just
about to get a feel of something that would take you on a newly
discovered harmonious journey of unrivalled melody with Dotche’s Gidi Wave.
It is undeniably going to be a new scintillating moment for music
lovers in Nigeria and diaspora, as 22 year-old, University of Portsmouth
graduate, Chukwubuikem Oguzie, otherwise known as Dotche, releases Gidi Wave, an afro pop, inspired by the contrasting life in Lagos.
Produced by Oz Benzinho, Gidi Wave sure says what the average Lagosian experiences daily in the modern time.
Though an indigent of Imo, Dotche was born and bred in Lagos, hence,
his unique style of music is not devoid of the typical street lyrics of Eko that we have all come to savour.
When you are a graduate of Business Administration in one of the
leading international Universities, you know all the etiquettes and
terms that makes music a serious “business”, away from the wishy-washy
content and style we are subjected to in the supposed modern style of
music.
Dotche’s “Gidi Wave” would continue to reverberate through your mind as you skim trough the ever bustling streets of Lagos.
