According to Agbomhere, Oshiomhole is tarnishing the image of the national secretariat of the APC.
Blessing
Agbomhere, the governorship candidate in Edo state, has urged Governor
Adams Oshiomhole to apologize to the national leadership of the All
Progressives Congress (APC) for denigrating the party leaders.
The
Punch reports that the APC governorship aspirant demanded the apology
speaking at a press conference in Abuja on Monday, May 16.
Agbomhere
was reportedly reacting to comments attributed to Oshiomhole during a
visit by the Olagunsoye Oyinlola-led APC fact-finding/reconciliation
committee of the APC.
The
governor said there were no problems in the state chapter of the APC
and advised the national secretariat of the party to settle its internal
crisis at the national level instead of “shedding crocodile tears”
about Edo state.
Criticizing Oshiomhole, Agbomhere noted that the governor’s utterances and behaviour were not statesman-like.
“The
utterance is an attempt by Adams Oshiomhole to tarnish the image of the
national secretariat of the APC and blackmail it into abandoning the
Edo APC to his dictates and desperation to impose his close ally and
business partner on Edo people.
“The
governor does not have any right to insult the national secretariat of
the party, a man who has never voted for the party,” he said.
Agbomhere called on the governor to apologize and seek forgiveness from the APC, otherwise, he would be shown the way out.
Speaking about the governorship election in Edo, Agbomhere said: “If
Adams Oshiomhole is truly a member of the APC, who believes in the
party’s constitution, he should have known that his godson is not
qualified to be the governor of Edo state.”
He stressed that he was more qualified than Oshiomhole’s candidate adding: “Economically, I will dwarf him, and in character, I will thrash him.”
Meanwhile, APC members
in Edo state are sharply divided along the line and interests of the
aspirants they are supporting, therefore, creating dis-unity within the
party.
Many
party faithful are worried that if nothing is done urgently to check
the situation so that the primaries are conducted without bitterness,
the party should be prepared for the worse in the governorship election.
